Where is the office of the UN in Switzerland?

The United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG) is the second largest of the four major office sites of the United Nations. The UN office is housed at the historic Palais des Nations, originally built for the League of Nations in the 1930s. This beautiful art deco Palais overlooking Lake Geneva is the largest centre for conference diplomacy in the world. To give you an perspective, the UNOG services more than 8,000 meetings every year and with more than 1,600 staff, it is the biggest duty stations outside of United Nations headquarters in New York.

I personally, love the interior of all UN offices I have been to so far, most conference rooms have been decorated and furnished by beautiful gifts from Member States.

Did you know that you can visit the UN Geneva! Just book a guided tour, available in 15 languages!) or check out the virtual Tour of the Palais des nations https://www.unog.ch/virtual_tour/palais_des_nations.html

UNOG contributes significantly to the Organization’s efforts to maintain international peace and security, to advance disarmament, to protect and promote human rights, to eradicate poverty, to implement sustainable development practices and to provide fast, effective humanitarian relief in emergencies – to mention just a few of the tasks.
