How does the UN screening process work?

What reasons cause you to get screened out?

Yes, unfortunately it could be possible that information you have stated in the application related to e.g. language, working experience, education could be possible reasons your UN Job application could get rejected at the early stages!

1) Language :
All entry level jobs at the UN require fluency in one or more specific languages in ALL of the categories (speaking, reading, writing and listening) otherwise your application will be screened out immediately by the UN filtering system. Also do not forget to list your mother tongue.

2) Work experience:
The UN screening process system will count together all the working experience you indicate and if the sum of your work experience does not match the minimum requirements of a UN post you apply for, you will get screened out automatically.

3) Education:
Particularly for professional positions you always need to include your university degree(s) or you will be automatically screened out. If you cannot find your university or school when adding your education details to your application, search for “Other Institution” and enter the name of your institution.

Whilst these top tips cannot secure you a job at the UN it gives you a competitive chance to secure your dream role in International development.
