How to apply for the UN internship programme? Can I apply for an internship with the UN?

How can I intern at the UN?

How can I intern at the UN? How can I be a United Nations intern?

You can become a UN intern if you are enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent).), or if are you enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher)
Furthermore, you should have excellent command of English or French and should neither be a child or a sibling of a United Nations Secretariat staff member.

The internship programme can last from at least two months up to six months. It also worth noting, that once selected to become a UN intern, you must begin your internship either prior to or within one year of graduation. Please keep in mind that not all UN internships are paid internships and that costs related to travel, insurance, accommodation, and living expenses must be borne by either the interns or their sponsoring institutions. You are also responsible for obtaining and financing the necessary visas.
We would recommend checking with your university if you get academic credit from your institution of higher education for the internship.

If you are interested in internships with other United Nations funds and programmes, you can apply with them directly through the links below.
